A Seychelles Islands Tourist Visa is necessary if you intend to visit the Republic of Seychelles, which consists of 115 islands in all in the east coast of Africa.
Most of the islands are gathered around the island of Mahe, which has the international airport and Victoria, the capital. The islands and the beaches attract people to indulge in activities like walking, hiking, diving, surfing or windsurfing, snorkeling, boating, sailing, fishing, scuba diving and water sports. Seychelles offers mainly three types of Visas, business, tourist and transit. Unlike most countries' visa, a Seychelles Islands Tourist Visa has no specific requirements irrespective of the nationality of the visitor and his/her family. A Seychelles Islands Tourist Visa can be applied for and obtained upon arrival at Seychelles through any of the authorized ports of entry. However to successfully obtain a tourist visa one has to follow certain guidelines and produce a set of documents at the immigration.
The tourist must have a passport that is valid on the date of entry in Seychelles and does not expire for at least six months after the proposed exit date form Seychelles. The passport must have at least one blank page for the visa stamping. The amendment pages in the back of the passports are not accepted for the same.
The tourist must produce a proof of departure from Seychelles like a round trip ticket or an onward ticket. The tourist must also have in possession a proof of accommodation including the contact details of the hotel. If the tourist plans to stay at more than one hotel then a copy of each reservation with the contact details must be provided. Sufficient funds must be declared by the traveler to sustain in Seychelles for the duration of the stay for which they are applying.
The Seychelles Islands Tourist Visa is granted initially for a period of 30 days. An extension can be applied for a period up to three months from the date of issue of the initial visa. Further extensions are also entertained for successive periods with a limit of three months at a time up to a maximum of a year. These extensions are granted only if the person meets all the criteria mentioned earlier. The tourist visa is issued free for the first quarter, after which a fee of SCR 1000 is charged for every extension of three months.
