albaniaflagIf you do not currently have a visa Albania officials will deny your request to enter their interesting and beautiful country. With neighboring countries of Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Greece, Albania's coastline along the Adriatic Sea is something every traveler must experience.

Citizens of the U.S., those from countries that are members of the European Union, citizens of New Zealand, Australia or EFTA member countries do not require a visa to enter the Republic of Albania. These travelers only need a valid passport or ID card. However, the U.S. State Department advises that Albania often charges a fee for travelers entering the country.

Officials will stamp also your passport with an entry stamp, which permits a 90-day stay. This 90-day stay must be within a 180 day time period, which starts at the first day of entry. Leaving Albania then returning does not restart the 180-day period. The 90 days period also is cumulative from the first day of entry. Requests for stays over 90 days within the 180-day period require a Albania Residency Permit.

For all other countries, an Albanian visa is required. A tourist visa or business visa is available, depending on the nature of your visit. Either visa requires that your passport be current and that it does not expire any earlier than 6 months from the time you enter Albania. In addition, you'll want to be sure to have blank pages available in your passport, as that's where officials will stamp your visa.
