argentinaflagWith the right visa Argentina could be your next fantastic vacation destination. In fact, if you're planning to travel to Argentina in the near future, you'll want to become well versed in understanding the entry requirements for this beautiful and charming country.

Citizens of the United States who wish to visit Argentina for business or tourism for less than 90 days may do so without obtaining a visa. Be aware, however, that if you plan to enter Brazil from Argentina, you will need to get a visa for Brazil, so inquire into that process, if necessary.

Persons who live in the U.S. who are not U.S. citizens must obtain a visa to enter Argentina, as do U.S. citizens who plan to stay more than 90 days. You must apply in person at the Argentine Consulate that services your U.S. state of residence. Each consulate has authority over a group of states. The seven Argentine Consulates in the U.S. are located in Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, New York, NY and Washington, DC.

To apply for a visa you'll need a valid passport or other travel document valid for at least 6 months from the time you'd enter Argentina. If yours is close to expiring, it's a good idea to have it renewed now. You'll need one recent passport photograph to submit with your visa application as well.

You can get an application online at the Embassy of Argentina website, or pick on up from the Consulate office. Be sure to fill it in completely. Along with the application, you'll be required to show evidence of your status as an immigrate in the U.S. (if not a U.S. citizen). Examples are an Alien Registration Card, Employment Authorization Card or Advance Parole Document. Bring the original and one copy of your documents.

As with most countries, Argentina requires that you show that you are financially responsible and have enough money to support yourself while in country. Bring bank statements for the past 6 months as well as credit card statements for the same period. Originals and a copy are required.

The cost for a visa to Argentina depends on the type of visa you need. A holiday visa (free for nationals of Morocco and India) is $30. A transit visa (free for Indian nationals) is $20. A business visa (free for Moroccan nationals) is $50. Visas for religious works cost $30 for all. Any other type of visa is $50 (free to U.S. nationals).

You'll need to present all these in person at the consulate servicing your area. The Argentina Embassy recommends applications be submitted at least 30 days in advance of your departure date in case additional documents are required, which can delay processing.
